This is perhaps no surprise, but I am an avid reader and make a point of reading current and popular young adult literature so I can connect with my students and recommend high-interest titles. I love helping resistant/insecure readers become eager readers as they discover stories they enjoy. As a literacy coach, I develop and lead professional development opportunities, including book studies and workshops, that focus on the teaching of reading and writing across content areas. I am an active participant of professional development offered by Rutgers University, Rider University, and Princeton University (The Master Teachers of Holocaust Institute; The National Writing Project; Teachers As Scholars). In addition to reading and writing, I love soccer and have played since first grade. I played in high school and college and coached the JV team while teaching at Kennett High School. I have two dogs, Fitzgerald (named for F. Scott Fitzgerald) and Giggsy (named for Ryan Giggs).
